Summer in Texas is already a challenge due to the heat. With more triple digit days just around the corner, TXU Energy has stepped up to help. For fourteen years, we’ve partnered with several social service organizations and local Meals on Wheels affiliates through our Beat the Heat program, which is one of the largest energy conservation and heat safety awareness programs in Texas.
Through our partnerships with these agencies, we are working to educate local-area seniors and others who are confined to their homes about ways to prevent heat-related emergencies and manage their energy consumption through the local Meals on Wheels programs across the state.
This summer, the community affairs team at TXU Energy kicked off Beat the Heat in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston.
In Dallas and Fort Worth, we partnered with the Dallas Visiting Nurse Association and Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County to distribute 7,500 meals with valuable heat safety tips and energy conservation information to our most at-risk customers, senior citizens and the home-bound.
In Houston, we partnered with Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston to distribute over 7,000 meals with heat safety tips. Community affairs representatives also spoke with local media outlets about the Beat the Heat program and educated viewers on small measures they could take at home to save energy and money.
Through TXU Energy’s efforts every summer, thousands of Texans are educated on how to stay cool and safe during the summer without breaking the bank. For information about our Beat the Heat program,as well as heat safety and energy efficiency tips, visit txu.com.
